Important information for our Service Users

By 17 March 2020May 12th, 2021LAWA news

Dear LAWA’s service users,

We are now facing difficult emotional days due to the COVID-19 outbreak, also known as coronavirus. We encourage you to take good care of yourself and your families and to get information from official sources such as the government and the NHS. At LAWA, we understand this situation concerns everyone as we will all be affected in one way or another. Therefore, we would like to let you know that we are following all the guidelines from the government and the NHS and that we are taking all the measures to safeguard all the women and children that come to our services as well as our staff and volunteers.

We have started a transition period to provide our supporting services via phone until further notice. We have made available additional phone numbers to which you can call as unfortunately our offices will be closed. We are also in constant communication with local authorities and the MET police to be aware of additional measures they are putting in place to support survivors of any form of violence, including Domestic Violence, both ongoing and new cases.

Until further notice, all activities from the projects Growing Together and Change Makers will be canceled and virtual sessions will be organised. English classes have been canceled.

If you require vital assistance due to domestic violence or any other kind of violence, please call 999 available 24 hours, or call the National Domestic Violence Helpline freephone on 0808 2000 247.

If you require support or advise due to a situation of violence, please call us from 9am to 5pm, to any of the following numbers:

0753 442 4826 (Spanish, Portuguese and English)
0730 830 5295 (Portuguese and English) – from 2pm until 5:30pm

If you are currently at one of our refuges, please get in touch directly with your caseworker.

We understand it is not ideal to be advised only via phone, but these are measures that aim to guarantee the service provision as well to guarantee the safety of the service users and the staff and volunteers. We will keep monitoring the situation and will share any updates on our social media and website.

LAWA’s team.
