Get Involved

Thank you for your interest in supporting our organization. With your help, we can change and save the lives of hundreds of people fleeing gender-based violence. All the help we receive is vital to continuing our work.

Make a donation

While public funding for shelters is drastically decreasing, violence is not. Due to government cuts, many refuges are facing closure and this threatens lives. Women and children trying to break free from violent partners, child abusers, and sex traffickers, have fewer and fewer spaces to go. Migrant women are additionally vulnerable: often destitute, with limited English skills, and don’t know their rights. Around 50% of refuges for ethnic minorities have been forced to close their doors due to a lack of resources.

We need your help.

Your monetary donation is vital in supporting victims of domestic violence. You can become a monthly donor here. You can also make an individual donation by clicking on this link.

Fundraise for us

If you have experience organising fundraising events and wish to do one on behalf of LAWA, please contact us so we can discuss how we can support you to reach a greater number of people. Our members of staff could attend the event, we have brochures and materials to share information about our work, and we can support you on social media. For more information, contact Paula, our Development Officer, directly at the following email address [email protected]

Also, if you would like to run a marathon or take a challenge to raise funds for LAWA, you can create your own fundraising page HERE. Through this platform, all the funds you raise will arrive directly at LAWA.

Join our volunteer programme

We are constantly looking for positive and energetic Latin American and other Black and Ethnic Minoritised women to join our team. We are led by and for women of our community and therefore, our volunteer program is exclusively for Latin American and other Black and Minority Ethnic women. However, we do not rule out the passion and skills that women from different cultural backgrounds can bring to our organisation. If you do not have the profile we are looking for, but you are interested in supporting us, please consider donating, sharing our social media content, and supporting our public campaigning activity.

We seek skills in different areas for different roles, thus we accept different professional profiles. It is preferable that you speak English and at least one Latin American language – Spanish or Portuguese.

We request a minimum commitment of 6 months. These are some of the areas in which you could support us:

You can download the volunteer application form HERE and send it to [email protected]. We begin a new volunteering cycle every 6 months and the next cycle is expected to start in January 2024. If you are interested in becoming a counselling volunteer, we accept applications throughout the entire year.

Make sure you indicate in the email subject that you are applying for this area.
