Today we’re launching our Empowering Fund to mark a historical moment: the opening of
LAWA’s new refuge, the second of the only two refuges in the UK and Europe led by and for
Latin American women and children fleeing violence.
At a time when an average of 4 in 5 Black and Minority ethnic women survivors of violence
are being turned away from refuges given shortage of spaces, we are very proud to
announce that we will double our refuge capacity to accommodate more survivors and their
children.
But we can only do this together. Become a partner of our Empowering Fund today by
committing to a small monthly donation that will guarantee the sustainability of our two
refuges and other life-saving services.
Government funding to BME refuges has been cut by half which means that now more than
ever we need your support. Join us on this journey to save and empower lives, sign up today
