For its tenth anniversary, CASA Festival joins forces with two of London’s leading off-West
End theatres, Southwark Playhouse and Arcola Theatre, to offer London audiences eight weeks of brilliant Latin American theatre and culture.
The festival kicks off at Arcola with Sergio Blanco’s highly-acclaimed Thebes Land returning for a five-week run, ahead of a five-week season of four acclaimed international shows and three exciting new works by UK-based Latin American artists at Southwark Playhouse. Completing the programme are: a new verbatim piece about violence against Brazilian women and girls who live in the UK, a new theatre show about Peru and its food, and an eight-week festival of play readings of Latin America’s most exciting contemporary voices.

Yesterday the LAWA team hosted a cake sale in our office, to raise funds for our crowdfunding campaign. The team baked delicious cakes, and we spent the day meeting and greeting our neighbours, telling them about our work and our crowdfunding.
All the money raised in the cake sale will be donated to the campaign TODAY. And why today? Because it’s bonus day, which means that every donation will be 50% matched. It’s a unique opportunity for us, as we are trying to reach a £20,000 goal!!
The Islington BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) Women’s Network (which we are a part of) presents its second conference, which will take place next week, on June 13th from 9:30 to 13:30 (Assembly Hall, Islington Town Hall, London N1 2UD)
The theme is “Challenging Inequalities, Bridging Gaps and Ensuring Fairness” and the programme includes guest speakers, videos, case presentations and discussions.
